Poetry for a parallel universe

We take on all forms of writing in my local writing group. It is a group I treasure as a great resource for writing and a social fix. The group, my group, is the Carrollton (Ga.) Creative Writers Club (which meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in the Cultural Arts Center in Carrollton.)

The group also holds a Saturday session on the first and third weekends of each month from 10:30 until 12:30.

It’s a great mix of writers crafting great contributions to a variety of genre, including literary fiction (my area), fantasy, children’s and young adult fiction, screenplays and poetry (another of my areas).

A subgroup of the writers club is the Just Poetry Workshop (which meets on the second Wednesdays of each month from 10 a.m. to noon in the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center.) Members of this group are also members of the larger club. Some very fine poets contribute each week.

The following in a poem I wrote, with help from the group:

Somewhere in a parallel universe

By Chuck Wanager

Somewhere in a parallel universe,

                                        I’m young,

                                        dark and tall,

                                        killer handsome,

                                         have cans larded with money,

                                         have friends by the hundreds,

a handy Caribbean laps at my door,

                                          my backyard mirrors Myrtle Beach,

                                          I’m a huge success,

                                          I’m happy,

                                           I have you.

You have me in a parallel universe, somewhere

About cwanager77

Hi, I'm Chuck, and I'm the author of "Jackson Flats," which you can find on Amazon.com and Kindle books. My Web page is charleswanager.com. The novel's packed with humor and is a fast read. I also like to travel. I'm especially happy when I can do both and tell others about my experiences. I write about my travel over the globe and close to home. With my posts, you read not only about my travels but about ways to travel lightly and cheaply, and where to stay for less. Travel the world close to home and far away with my posts.
