As I mentioned last time in this column, the big day for me is coming – release of my novel, “Jackson Flats.” That’s release as in book publishing speak, which means the day my book leaves writing, editing, proofing and printing behind and becomes an official book for sale.
It seems unbelievable now that the process is finally about completed. At times during the whole ordeal, which spanned several months, I did not believe the novel would be completed. I saw myself giving up, grabbing up the hard-copy and throwing it all over hell. That image popped into my feverish brain when late at night, the words didn’t come, the words that had made their way into my consciousness seemed flat and pedestrian, or worse; and the plot seemed muzzy, along with my head, torso, arms, legs, whole body.
Now, though, I writing this blog in full brightness of day, in the full awareness that my novel has only a little more way to go down that publishing birth canal before it will see bright day, and, hopefully, into your computers or pads or onto your bookshelves. I ask you readers to give the book a read. It has humor, lots of that, drama, a lot of that, too, romance, a good helping and action, too! Can’t beat that for enjoyment during free time. Try it, readers. I’m sure you will like it!
