My hands do shake and my mind doth run for shelter. That day, R-Day, is drawing closer still. R-Day is the release day of my novel, Jackson Flats, a book I think most, if not all, readers would enjoy.
I am now in the very end stages of the process and feel the thrill and excitement of my very own novel (and a good one, if I say so myself) taking on very recognizable signs of life. Today, I approved the back cover material, which will add to the overall good look of the cover design, I believe. When you seen it, I think you will agree.
The front cover can be viewed on my Web site at charleswanager.com. The back cover material reads:
Jake Keening is a 22-year old college graduate who covets an exciting job as a reporter for a big-city newspaper. But the only opening he can find is in a small town on the open plains. He believes he is doomed to cover small-time happenings. After a few weeks on the job, he finds out how wrong he has been. Not only does he face the difficult task of digging up proof of rampant corruption in county government, but he must deal with officials – led by the nefarious Bobby Boyle – who stonewall him at every turn.
At the same time, he is carrying on a hot romance with a town beauty. It’s enough to keep him very busy, and the reader very engaged. Jake is so immersed, he almost wrecks his health and career. Before that can happen, he decides to uncover evidence of corruption on his own (but with a little help), and in a most unconventional way.
This novel has something for just about every taste – humor, drama, action and romance – and is carefully crafted and smartly written by Chuck Wanager, who knows what he is writing about. Wanager is a long-time newspaper man himself and has worked at both large and small newspapers. His background spans more than 30 years as a reporter, editor and photographer. The author has also written magazine articles and is a published poet. He is working on his second novel.
On this day, I also approved a poster to be set up at each place I go to promote Jackson Flats. (Remember that title, Jackson Flats. You may be hearing buzz about the book and don’t want to feel out of it because you don’t know about the book or its plot or main characters.) I will set up the poster and set out my books and sell, sell, sell, I hope, hope, hope. But these days, the Internet makes things easier. Just go to Amazon.com to buy an e-copy. (After it has been released, of course.)
The release date is fast approaching. So get ready! I will let you know on this blog where and when you can buy your copies!!
